Savaria Zenith: commercial strength in a home elevator

Based on Savaria's commercial Orion elevator, the Zenith uses a counterweighted traction drive for the smoothest, quietest ride of any home elevator we install. 1,400 lb, 60 feet of travel, six stops, and no machine room.

What stands out

  • Quietest ride we install

A traction drive with a counterweight moves the cab with far less motor effort than a chain or hydraulic unit. Start, travel, and stop are nearly silent.

  • Heavy capacity

1,400 lb handles a power wheelchair with an attendant, or furniture and groceries, with margin to spare.

  • No machine room

Like the Eclipse, the drive components fit a closet. Unlike a hydraulic, there is no pump unit or oil.

  • Modular T-rail

Stable guide rails make for a steady ride and straightforward service.

  • Same finish options as the Eclipse

Hardwood, melamine, luxury MDF, lighting, fixtures, gates, and flush doors from the same catalog.

  • Energy-aware

Automatic cab lighting and a drive that uses the counterweight rather than fighting gravity.

When the Zenith is the right call

Choose the Zenith when ride quality and capacity matter most: a power chair user who rides many times a day, a tall house with long travel, or a homeowner who simply wants the elevator to feel like a good commercial one. It needs a 10 inch pit and 108 inches of overhead, slightly more than the Eclipse, and heavier electrical service. For most two or three stop homes the Eclipse is the more economical choice; we will tell you which fits.

Questions we hear every week

How is the Zenith different from the Eclipse?

Drive and capacity. The Eclipse uses a geared chain drive rated 950 lb; the Zenith uses a counterweighted traction drive rated 1,400 lb and travels up to 60 ft. The Zenith is quieter and needs a bit more pit and overhead.

Does it need a machine room?

No. Components fit in a small closet near the hoistway.

What power does it need?

208V three-phase or 240V single-phase, on a dedicated circuit. Most homes use the single-phase option.
