UP Stairlift: a curved stairlift that looks like furniture
Power swivel seat and power folding footrest come standard. The modular aluminum rail goes in fast, and the four leather-look colors were chosen to sit in a living room without apologizing. Installed and serviced by our own team.

What you get as standard
On most curved stairlifts these are the upgrades. On the UP they are in the box.
Powered swivel seat
At the top landing the seat turns toward the floor at the press of a button, so you step off facing forward instead of twisting toward the stairs.
Powered folding footrest
The footrest raises and lowers on its own. Nobody has to bend down to fold it, which is the moment most falls happen around a stairlift.
Modular aluminum rail
Assembled on site from sections instead of waiting on a single custom bend. Faster to deliver, and the rail can be adjusted or reused if your needs change.
Simple joystick control
Constant-pressure joystick on the armrest. Two wall-mounted remotes, one per landing, call or send the chair.
Built-in safety
Obstruction sensors, overspeed governor, retractable seatbelt, and battery operation that keeps working through a power outage.
Optional powered hinge rail
If the stairs end at a doorway, an automatic folding rail section keeps the entry clear. Rare on curved lifts.
Four upholstery colors
Leather-look upholstery that is easy to wipe clean. Pick the one that matches the room.

Where the UP fits in our lineup
For a straight staircase the Savaria K2 is still our first recommendation. For a curved staircase and a rider under 275 lb who wants the powered seat and footrest without paying for them as add-ons, the UP is the one we show first. Heavier riders or very long rails usually end up on the Handicare 4000 or Savaria Stairfriend. All of them are on the curved stairlift page, with the trade-offs spelled out.
Questions we hear every week
How quickly can an UP stairlift be installed?
Because the rail is modular aluminum assembled on site rather than a one-piece custom bend, the lead time is shorter than a traditional curved lift and the installation itself is usually done in a day.
Will it fit a narrow or complicated staircase?
Usually yes. The rail follows turns, landings, and spirals, and the folded chair takes up little room. We confirm fit at the in-home measurement.
What happens in a power outage?
The UP runs on batteries that charge at the parking points, so it keeps working for several trips until power returns.
What is the weight capacity?
275 lb. It is a residential lift. For heavier riders on a curved staircase, look at the Handicare 4000 or the Savaria Stairfriend on our curved stairlift page.
What does the UP stairlift cost?
Less than most curved stairlifts with the same features, because the power swivel seat and power footrest are standard rather than add-ons. Curved lifts start around $10,000 and the exact price depends on the rail. We give you a written number after measuring.
