A small company that installs what it sells and answers its own phone

Keystone Accessibility was started in 2011 by Darrell Foster, a licensed lift mechanic who grew up around the accessibility business. Fourteen years and more than a thousand installations later, it is still owner-led, still local to central Pennsylvania, and still built on the idea that the person who sells you a stairlift should be able to install and fix it.

From Darrell

I grew up in Midcoast Maine. My mother has worked in the accessibility industry for more than 25 years, so stairlifts and platform lifts were dinner-table conversation long before they were my job. When I started Keystone Accessibility, the goal was simple: do this work the way I would want it done for my own family. Show up when we say we will, measure carefully, put the price in writing, install it right, and be reachable afterward.

That last part matters more than people expect. A stairlift or elevator is something you rely on every day for years. The company that installs it should still be around, still local, and still picking up the phone when a battery gets tired or a sensor needs adjusting. That is why our installers are employees rather than subcontractors, why we only carry equipment that has proven itself in local homes, and why we service most brands, including lifts from dealers that have closed.

Outside of work I play music with my band and spend as much time outdoors as I can with my wife, Kelsey. If you call the office, there is a good chance you will talk to me or to someone who has been in your situation with their own parents. We are glad to help.

How we work

  • Licensed and insured

PA HIC #13596045. Darrell is a licensed lift mechanic and every installation is done to current national code.

  • Our own employees

Installers and technicians on our payroll, trained by us. The same faces for the install and for service years later.

  • Honest recommendations

If two straight lifts beat a curved one, or a ramp beats a lift, or a used unit is the smart buy, we say so. We also say when a product is not a fit for a rider.

  • Written prices

A free in-home visit ends with a written quote. No same-day-only pricing and no follow-up pressure calls.

  • Equipment we trust

Savaria, Pollock, PVE, Handicare, Harmar, UP, and EZ-ACCESS. Each earned its place by holding up in local homes with little service.

  • Giving back

We install reconditioned stairlifts at reduced cost for families who cannot afford new, and work with nonprofits in the region on accessibility for low-income households.

What a consultation is like

We come to the house, usually within a few days of your call. We look at the stairs or the entry, ask about who will use it and how, and measure. Then we sit down and go through the options with real prices.

The visit is free and takes about 45 minutes. You get the quote in writing before we leave or by email that evening. Take your time with it. Many families call back weeks or months later, and the price holds.

Prefer to start from home? The online stairlift quote walks you through photos and measurements in about ten minutes and gives you a real number.
