If your stairs turn, split at a landing, or spiral, you need a rail bent to match. We measure in person, show you the trade-offs between four curved models, and install the one that fits. Prices start around $10,000.

How a curved stairlift project goes

  • Measurement visit

We photograph and measure every tread, turn, and landing. For some models the manufacturer builds a 3D model of the rail from our measurements before anything is cut.

  • Written quote with options

You see the price for the rail and chair, and separately for options like a powered swivel seat or a hinged rail section at a doorway.

  • Rail built to order

Four to six weeks for most models. We schedule the install for the week the rail arrives.

  • Installation in a day

The rail mounts to the treads on posts. Walls and banisters are untouched. We ride it, set the seat, and show you the controls.

  • First year of service included

Adjustments after the rail settles are normal and covered. After that we are the ones who come out for batteries and checkups.

  • Honest alternative

If two straight lifts would do the job for less, we will say so and show you how the transfer at the landing would work.

Questions we hear every week

How much does a curved stairlift cost?

Curved stairlifts start around $10,000 installed and go up with the length and complexity of the rail. Each extra turn, landing, or parking curve adds to the price. We measure in person and give you a written number; there is no way to price a curved rail accurately over the phone.

Can two straight stairlifts replace a curved one?

Sometimes. If your staircase is two straight runs with a flat landing between them, two straight lifts can cost less than one curved rail. The rider has to transfer between chairs at the landing, which is fine for some people and not for others. We will show you both options when we measure.

How long does a curved stairlift take to arrive?

Four to six weeks for most custom rails, since they are built to your measurements. The UP stairlift's modular rail can be quicker. Installation takes most of a day.

Does a curved rail mount to the wall?

No. Like a straight lift, the rail mounts to the stair treads on posts. Walls, banisters, and railings are not touched.

Which curved stairlift do you recommend?

For most homes, the Handicare 4000. It is the curved lift we install most, with a twin-rail system that handles tight turns and five seat choices. For riders who want the powered swivel and footrest included, the UP. For heavier riders or commercial settings, the Savaria Stairfriend. The Harmar Helix is a good lift for lighter riders.

Can a curved stairlift be moved to another house?

The chair and drive can, but the rail is built for one staircase. The UP's modular rail is the exception; sections can sometimes be reused.
